When A Google Ok Ranking Is Actually Great
One of the things you have to realize is that Google doesn't know in advance that your on-focused keywords are really great and not just ok.
For example, we have a test website we are playing with called HotelByMap.Com It's an experiment in Web 2.0. You enter a city or zipcode and a map of all the hotels is there with star ratings, amenities, price ranges. In short, a very cool way to find the right hotel you want in just about 20 seconds.
We set up a sample Adwords campaign and whenever somebody enters a keyword like hotel map of las vegas strip (we pulled it off the keywordcountry website).
Now we're smart guys and we know that if somebody types that in, and you land them at a page that shows them the map without having for them to enter las vegas or the zip code 89109 (the strip), that users will find this a very useful site.
But, Google, won't know until they actually crawl the specific results page (they don't initially, only your main landing page) and they usually won't be prompted to until they see a lot of people clicking on the ad.
What's going to happen is in a few days, these keywords will be re-evaluated and will gradually go from Poor, to OK to great.
So remember, sometimes you need to pay the 'extra google tax' for poor keywords, you know will improve in quality score eventually.
