Chiropractic Care - Important For Musicians
By
Dr. Timothy Jameson
|
Dr.
Timothy Jameson is a chiropractor who specialises in
musicians health and wellness, and runs the renowned
website,
www.musicianshealth.com.
His website is devoted to the
understanding of why musicians are susceptible to
injury, especially painful neck, shoulder, arm and hand
problems. Musicians can learn why injuries develop, how
to prevent them, and discover health enhancement options
available . Read on to hear what he has to say
about the importance of chiropractic care for musicians: |

The cumulative affect of
constant strains exerted upon the body from playing a
musical instrument can lead to wear and tear. It is
quite common for musicians to develop spinal problems as
a result of this strain. Abnormal tugging upon the
spinal bones (vertebrae) due to overworked and tired
muscles may lead to spinal misalignments (subluxations),
nerve pressure, increased tendency towards muscle spasm
and loss of the normal range of motion in the joints.
If you've been a musician
long enough, chances are your muscles and joints are
yelling for attention. When was the last time you played
your musical instrument without an ache or pain? When
was the last time you played without neck strain? Or
back strain? Or forearm strain? If the answer to these
is "it's been a long time" or "I just play through the
pain" then consider chiropractic care as the way to get
you feeling great again!

Chiropractic health care
incorporates hands-on or instrument-assisted adjustments
(realignments) of the spinal and extremity joints to
restore neurological balance within your body. The
adjustments allow the natural flow of energy from the
brain cell to the tissue cell via the nervous system to
go unimpeded. This restores health and well-being to the
body.
Your doctor of chiropractic will first consult
with you regarding current health problems as well as
your past medical history. As a primary health care
provider, a chiropractor is concerned about your entire
body's health, so it is important to cover your entire
medical history. Chiropractors look at the whole body
via the workings of the nervous system. You might say
that chiropractors are nervous system doctors, not "back
doctors." |

A chiropractor evaluates
your spinal health to determine if there are
subluxations (spinal misalignments) present that may be
leading to ill-health or disease states. This can be
determined through various measures, through
instrumentation such as computerized surface EMG and
thermography studies, and through spinal and extremity
palpation (feeling the structures via hands-on contact).
Most chiropractors use a
combination of these two approaches. Also, most
chiropractors will take an x-ray of the spinal region
that is subluxated to help rule out pathologies and to
help determine spinal health and postural distortions. |
|
Spinal adjustments restore
joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, restore, nerve
function to organs, tissues, glands, improve brain
function and mental clarity, and provides an overall
sense of well-being. Consider seeking chiropractic care
today!
